Hi, we’re Uma & Balajee - Textile lovers, parents, the hearts behind The Nesavu🥰

How it began🎓

We met in college studying fashion.
Balajee was always the quiet, artistic one,Sketching designs in class, happily lost in his colors🎨 He’s also secretly amazing with numbers, gadgets, and anything tech🤓🔢📱
Me? I was the detail-oriented planner,Textile Nerd excited about patterns, measurements, and organizing everything to perfection📏📒
Both of us come from families where textiles are practically part of the DNA🧬🧵
Together, our strengths balanced out perfectly: his creativity with my structure.
We fell in love, got married in 2012, and spent years working in the clothing industry.

The turning point👶

In July 2015, our son Danvanth was born. Nine days later, we were planning his naming ceremony.

we couldn’t find a soft, newborn-size traditional outfit.😩 What we found in the market was... disappointing.

Everything we found was either outdated, too itchy, too flashy, or just uncomfortable for someone so small.

And that’s when it hit us.

How could something as important as children’s wear feel like an afterthought, especially in a country as rich in textile heritage as ours? 🤔✨

That moment planted a seed🌱

From That One Outfit… to The Nesavu

In 2019, we named our dream The Nesavu (yep, our second baby) 👶✨, which means “weaving” in Tamil - which just felt right.

Our logo is a loom shuttle - a powerful textile tool we both grew up playing with.

We launched with a small team and even smaller resources

Our first collection had just 12-style,was showcased at a modest stall at an expo with lots of hope and even more anxiety 😅

But guess what? It completely sold out

For the first time, it felt real: People wanted this. Parents needed this.

From Then to Now (aka a wild ride 🎢)

We’ve grown, sure. But wow, it was messy.

COVID happened. 😷 Financial hurdles happened. 💸 Delays happened. ⏳ Endless late nights juggling work and parenting happened too. But through it all, we kept showing up, stayed determined, and learned every single day.

We expanded to physical stores in Salem, Tirupur, Erode and Coimbatore🛍️

A 50+ team.

Our designs have leveled up - from pattu pavadais and silk shirts to Indo-westerns and play wear🎉

Yet, at heart, we’re still the same two people obsessing over soft fabric linings and panicking over courier delays. 📦😬

We started The Nesavu for our baby. Now we build it for yours.
